On the completion of the course, you get a certification on the basis of which you can register with Yoga Alliance as RYT 200 & RYT 500. The course is purely residential because the experience will provide you with the knowledge of a true yogic life. Living in a community with other residents will enable you to appreciate how compassion and humanitarianism are important traits in a yogi and an essential aspect of traditional yoga.
Yoga Therapy: Yoga asanas can help with the recovery and management of many common diseases and disorders. This class will provide students with an introduction to the anatomy and pathology of common health issues that diet, asana, and pranayama practice can ameliorate.
Asana: Yogic postures comprise three hours of the daily schedule. Morning asana classes focus on those asanas related to yoga therapy, whereas evening asanas provide students a class model they will later teach to 200 hour TTC students. From the third week, students will begin practicing a modified Ashtanga Yoga sequence.
Yoga Anatomy: Students will learn anatomy and physiology relevant to yoga in order to strengthen their classroom explanations, cues, and corrections of asana.
Philosophy: This class will prepare students to read and understand Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Each Friday, students will lead a discussion reflecting on the week's readings. Before class, students should write down one question on a notecard directly related to the day's reading and give this to the teacher at the start of class.
Pranayama, Yogic Breathing, Yoga Nidra & Chanting: Students will learn techniques to open vital energy centers in the body with a goal of becoming proficient enough to teach these skills to their students. Practical teaching experience will begin from the second week. Assessment will be carried out only for students who have a minimum 90% attendance rate during the 4 weeks of training.
